Essien Udosen hails from Ikot Obong Edong in lkot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa lbom State, Nigeria. He had his primary school education in the Methodist Central School, lkot Ekpene and secondary school education in State Lutheran Secondary School (now Lutheran High School), lkot Obong Edong, lkot Ekpene in 1962 and later got admitted into Archibong Memorial Grammar School, Ukpom, lkono.
He holds an N.C.E Certificate from College of Education, Uyo, a B.Sc. in Chemistry/Education from the University of Lagos, a PhD in inorganic Chemistry (Environmental) from the University of Calabar and a Post Doctoral Certificate in Pollution Studies from the State Key Laboratory of Environmental Aquatic Chemistry (SKLEAC), Beijing, China. He has also obtained a B.Th (Homiletics) from Eternity Theological Institute.
He has several certificates and awards from professional bodies, organizations and Churches.
Udosen had taught Chemistry and Biology in Secondary Schools before joining College of Education which metamorphosed into the University of Cross River State, Uyo that gave birth to the present University of Uyo.
He has has published over forty (40) articles in reputable national and international journals, written one text book and contributed to the writing of three text books in Science, technology and environmental chemistry.
Apart from the routine lecturing and research, Prof. Udosen had served as a lead consultant to Shell and Mobil Oil Companies. He is a member of many organizations and professional bodies, some of which are Nigerian Conservation Foundation (N.C.F.), Science Association of Nigeria {S.A.N.)etc. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON) and many others He is happily married and the marriage is blessed with two grown up children.
